I never got the chance to meet my hubby's Nana as she passed away long before I ever came around. So, I was really anxious when I took my paint brush to this thing, but that anxiety quickly turned to an indescribable calming. I started imagining all the pasta dinners shared around this table every Sunday and was literally brought to tears at the honor of having this table in our home and the thought of family gathering around it once again.
The four cane chairs came with the set, and I refinished those. After about seven trips to HomeGoods, I finally found the end chairs. I refused to buy something until I fell in love. These were love at first site and a great deal.
The dining room is still in the works and my main work space right now, so I staged this shoot in the foyer. Hopefully, I can finish off my two hutches in there soon. I can't wait to have the family over and break some bread over this thing. Mangia, mangia!

ReplyDeleteI just came across your website and I'm impressed and inspired by your creations! I want to repaint my bedroom furniture in a distressed white, but I have no idea how to do it. Are there any basic tips you could give me?
ReplyDeleteCheck out my "Video Tutorial" tab at the top of the page. These videos will walk you through the process.
DeleteI adore this!!! I can't wait to start my table today...I'm doing it in the same Annie Sloan paint. Your website is awesome, I LOVE the burlap background...I'm saving this blog (that's a first for me! yay!)
ReplyDeleteAmber, thank you so much for your kind words. Good luck on your table. I would love to see pics when you are done!
DeleteWow, Christina! What an impeccable job - a masterpiece!. The heart you put into your in-laws table is plain to see. I was recently graciously given a French dining table with an accompanying buffet, sanded and ready to go. I decided to white chalk paint it. This is my first attempt, so I typed in "chalk paint white French dining table" and there was your piece just dancing in front of me on the screen.
ReplyDeleteI certainly pray mine looks even a bit as lovely as yours. If you have any suggestions, please do share.
Hopeful and inspired,
