Update (1-20-16): You guys love this makeover so much I have created a series of video tutorials to show you exactly how I achieved this look. Check out part 1 and part 2 on my YouTube channel. Part 3, the last video in the series, coming soon!
I am beyond excited to share this reveal with you. This is my first refinishing project with a piece I bought from a secondhand store. The hunting part was challenging, but also exciting.
I started off by sanding down all the spills and giving it a good scrubbing with some Murphy Clean and Shine Spray. This thing was dir-ty.
This is one of the corners I repaired. You can't even tell. Post coming on this technique soon.
With the great price I got for this piece, I am tempted to try and sell. But I think at this point, I am too in love with it. What do you think? Sell or keep?
Pretty!
ReplyDeleteKeep for a year and then find a "new" piece and do it again!
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing transformation.. I am new to this chalk painting stuff and have been enjoying your YouTube videos. I hope I can do half as good a job as you. I really hate painting - rooms and stuff - I don't know why I am so caught up with wanting to do these chalk paint pieces.. Maybe because of what you just did here!! I would want to keep this soo bad but would have the same dilemma.. What did you end up doing? How much would this sell for? Thanks for sharing.. and PS.. God is good!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you have done. I would KEEP it !!
ReplyDeleteJust found this via Pinterest--very beautiful! (If you haven't already decided, I say keep it!). I was wondering--did you apply the wax before you coated it with the Chalk paint, or vis versa?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
What color dark wax did you apply?
ReplyDeletewow beautiful thanks for sharing how you did it and what it looks like up close and before and after! It's beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteKeep!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing with the pieces I really like, but you could get some good money for it and always find another one. Thanks for the idea and pictures, I am going to do one just like this to sell.
ReplyDeleteKeep it...you did a really great job...what a bargain too...hard to find bargains like that here in Portugal!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did and you are inspiring me,as I'm getting ready to paint my first chalk paint piece.

ReplyDeleteThis thing was really banged up, too, with tons of dents and weird spills and stains. delonghi ec702 review
ReplyDeleteDid you put anything on it to seal it besides wax? I did something similar to this and only used wax but feel like it could use a little something else. Maybe I just need to wax it again haha and thank you for the idea of the hammered black rustoleum!
ReplyDeleteFull of heavenly and virtuosic words.
